EACH YEAR SOME OF OUR COACHES ARE RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO STUDENT LIFE IN GBSSA. 
TWO OF THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS ARE:

THE MARR ROSS AWARD


The Marr Ross Award is given out annually to the individual in the Georgian Bay Secondary School Association who best meets the criteria of the award. This award was established in the memory of Marr Ross in recognition of his contributions to the Georgian Bay Secondary School Association as coach, executive member, official, and citizen.

The Marr Ross award is presented annually to
(1) A dedicated teacher
(2) A teacher/coach who demonstrates a love for coaching student/athletes
(3) Demonstrates continued leadership in school sport either as an official, GBSSA executive member, or as a convenor of a sport.






THE PETE BEACH AWARD

The Pete Beech Award is presented annually to the individual who, through significant involvement with athletics and the Georgian Bay Secondary School Association (GBSSA), has made an outstanding contribution toward the overall development and education of young people. The Award Winner is one who consistently provides an impression of stability and optimism, enjoys the company and respect of young people and embodies and inculcates by example the highest traditions of the sports person.

Nominations must be received by the GBSSA President prior to February 1st of each year. Successful nominations will be expected to present the Award at the AGM that year.
